GRAD TOOLBOX
We understand that the application and selection process can be overwhelming. Each stage of the process is an opportunity for you to show us who you are and to get to know us a bit better. Below are some hints and tips for each stage of the recruitment process.
Writing your resume
Your resume is your opportunity to present the best impression to your potential employer. Investing time in developing a professional and attractive resume is the key to getting to the interview stage of the recruitment process. A resume is a marketing tool outlining your skills and experience so an employer can see, at a glance, how you can contribute to the graduate development program.
Online application
The first thing you need to do is submit an online application. We will ask for your basic details, such as name, address and contact details, your resume and academic transcript information.
The application won’t take too long to complete and you should make sure you complete all of the relevant fields.
Please note that to be eligible to apply, you must:
- be in your final year of study, or have completed your degree in the last two years;
- have a relevant degree, with at least a credit average, and
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
Psychometric assessment
If you have met the minimum application criteria, we will send you the link to an online psychometric assessment.
Psychometric assessment provides us with additional information that will help us to appreciate your overall profile.
You will need access to a computer and the internet to access the link we send you.
Telephone interview
We are assessing your application at each stage of the process and at this stage we might invite you to take part in a telephone interview, which will take around 20-25 minutes to complete. The telephone interview will allow us to expand on the information provided in your application.
The telephone interview will not be quite as formal as a face-to-face interview, but it is no less important and you should be looking to present yourself in the best possible way right from the start.
Reference checks
Reference checks are conducted as a matter of course. You will need to nominate referees when you apply. We prefer that you nominate work-related referees, but if you do not have any, please include non-family character references. Please ensure you have alerted your referees that we may be contacting them.
Face to face interviews
Our interviews allow us to find out more about your skills, experience and qualities, and also provide a great chance for you to ask questions. They are conducted with the relevant line manager, and a HR representative, and last about an hour. You will be required to provide proof of citizenship and also an academic transcript if you have not yet provided one.
Pre placement medical
We require all prospective employees to undertake a pre-placement medical and drug test prior to any offer of employment being made.
A doctor who has been approved by our business must conduct the pre-placement medical and drug test.
Job offer
If you are chosen for our graduate development program, we will initially tell you the good news by phone. You will also receive a written offer of employment, and must either accept or decline within the stipulated timeframe.
And of course we'll also be contacting applicants who miss out.
Some of the process described above may vary according to the differing recruitment needs of our business. Regardless, by this point we will know if you are right for us, and you'll know if we are right for you.
