Home Insulation Safety Program
The Home Insulation Safety Program is an Australian Government program.
Under the Home Insulation Safety Program, safety inspections will be undertaken of at least 150,000 homes that had non-foil insulation installed under the former Home Insulation Program. If any safety issues are identified during those inspections that relate to the installation of insulation under the former program, those issues will be rectified as part of the Home Insulation Safety Program.
The inspection program is based on a targeted risk assessment with priority given to those homes considered to be at a higher risk of fire and safety hazards.
In addition, any householder that has safety concerns regarding insulation installed under the former Home Insulation Program can request an inspection.
The Home Insulation Safety Program aims to provide a level of assurance to householders who had non-foil insulation installed under the former Home Insulation Program that their properties have been inspected and are considered safe. Additionally, it aims to involve industry, including reputable installers and manufacturers, in the inspection and rectification program to ease current concerns about the sustainability of the industry.
