Our Business Relationships
AUSTRALIA
Department of Defence, Australia
Transfield Services is a leading provider of Garrison Support Services to the Department of Defence in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia. Our principal client is the Defence Support Group; provider of facilities, administrative and logistics support to all Navy, Army and Air Force bases.
Our Garrison Support Services contracts cover 20 military specific and base operations services that are available on a 24-hour, seven-day basis in support of Defence activities. In catering for example, we provide over three million meals a year through the operation and management of Defence messes and canteens. We also manage recreational facilities such as gymnasiums, swimming pools and sporting fields, all of which contributes to enhancing the social and recreational fabric of the Defence Force.
Transfield Services operate three airfield fire services to protect the lives of Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) aircrew and passengers, provide three structural services that protect base infrastructure and are also a critical defence against bushfires in Defence’s training precincts. We maintain grounds in all Defence bases to ensure they look good, are safe for training and environmentally sustainable.
We manage access control for Defence and ensure bases, armouries and ammunition depots are regularly patrolled and secure. We also manage Defence firing ranges to ensure they are safe and provide a challenging training environment to Defence personnel.
In recognition of our responsibilities to the communities in which we operate, Transfield Services has developed a Community Partnership Program, which we piloted in East Sale in Victoria. The Program’s objective is to engage and connect in meaningful ways with local communities to ensure we build sustainable communities alongside sustainable business.
Activities undertaken in East Sale have included:
- The establishment of a community reference group of local stakeholders to develop initiatives of mutual benefit in response to community needs. An example has been the regular screening of movies for the spouses and partners of Defence personnel.
- A concerted effort to resource our services from within the local community.
- The development of a collaborative relationship with the Sale District Students@Work Scholarships to improve employment and training opportunities for youth in the region. This Transfield Services initiative has also been implemented in the Puckapunyal Military Area in Central Victoria and RAAF Base Pearce, in Western Australia.
ASC, Adelaide, South Australia
Our Corrosion Protection division provides and maintains protective coatings on the Collins class submarines in Adelaide, South Australia. We offer various surface preparation and coating application techniques to suit the client’s requirements, with the expertise to offer full encapsulation and containment of hazardous materials.
Thales, Sydney, NSW
At Garden Island, New South Wales, Transfield Services provides upgrade services to Thales Australia and its work on the Australian Navy’s fast frigate guided missile ships. This upgrade is a first for the Australian Defence industry and is considered the most sophisticated naval combat systems integration undertaken by an Australian company for the Australian Navy. The project covers upgrades to HMAS Melbourne, HMAS Darwin and HMAS Newcastle.
NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand Defence Force
Transfield Services provides facilities maintenance services including logistics equipment, trade works maintenance and ground communication equipment to the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Ohakea in the Manawatu and the Shelly Bay base in Wellington.
At the Waiouru army base in the central North Island, Transfield Services provides logistics support, facilities management, range management, ground communication equipment maintenance, trade works maintenance, roads maintenance, hospitality services and water treatment services for the New Zealand Army.
Hospitality services are also extended to visiting personnel, in particular to Singapore’s Armed Forces, when Singaporean troops are based at Waiouru for training exercises..
