Transfield Services Appoints New Director

Transfield Services today announced the appointment of Diane Smith-Gander to the Board of Transfield Services Limited with effect from 22 October 2010.
Ms Smith-Gander has extensive Australian and international experience in banking and finance, technology, and strategic and management consulting. Diane is a director of S&P/ASX20 company Wesfarmers Limited and NBN Co Limited, which is overseeing the rollout of the National Broadband Network, and is also Chairman of the Board of Basketball Australia.
Transfield Services’ Chairman, Anthony Shepherd, said today: “We are delighted to welcome Diane to the Board – her depth of global experience, particularly in the United States, and multi-industry background will be invaluable assets to Transfield Services.
“Diane’s appointment is part of our ongoing Board renewal process. This process aims to enhance the skills, knowledge and experience of the Board to promote our Company’s performance and shareholder value.”
Ms Smith-Gander will join the Board’s Risk, Audit and Compliance Committee and Human Resources Committee. In accordance with Transfield Services’ constitution, Diane will hold office until the 2011 Annual General Meeting, at which the appointment will be put to shareholders for election.
