Transfield Services JV wins $150 million renewal of Brisbane CityCat and CityFerries contract

TransdevTSL, a 50:50 joint venture between Transfield Services and Transdev, today announced that it has renewed its contract to continue operating Brisbane City Council’s CityCat and CityFerry service.

The contract, through TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries, is for ten years beginning in November 2010 and is worth A$150 million. Transfield Services’ Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Peter Goode, said today: “Brisbane City Council’s decision to renew its contract with TransdevTSL reflects the safe, efficient and reliable services we have delivered.”

“We will maintain our commitment to customer experience and satisfaction as we work closely with Brisbane City Council to deliver their next generation of transport,” Mr Goode said.

Since commencing the Brisbane CityCat and CityFerry contract in November 2003, TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries has worked in partnership with Brisbane City Council to:

  • Increase patronage by 73 per cent, providing a punctual and reliable service
  • Significantly improve safety standards, with no lost time injuries in 2009
  • Support the expansion of the fleet, with seven new CityCats built since 2003 and three more to be added in the next 12 months.

TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries has been recognised internationally and domestically for operator and customer service excellence. Most recently it was awarded a Letter of Commendation for Best Practice in Customer Service and Management at the 2010 International Transport Forum held in Leipzig, Germany.
