05 October 2010
Transfield Services today confirmed that it secured A$1.1 billion of work during the first quarter of the current financial year.
The Australia and New Zealand business won A$670 million of work with existing clients during the quarter, including Australian Rail Track Corporation, Brisbane City Council, Sydney Water and Chorus. These contracts in both the Infrastructure and Property and Facilities Management businesses reflect the strong relationships Transfield Services has established with existing clients through the delivery of quality services.
Transfield Services also secured work in the initial phase of the National Broadband Network rollout program to construct one of the first release sites, marking the beginning of the construction of Australia’s high speed fibre optic network.
The Company was awarded milestone construction contracts with BHP Billiton and Caltex Australia. The contracts leverage off our market leading position in the Australian hydrocarbons maintenance services sector.
In North America, Transfield Services secured new business in key operating sectors. The Company expanded the scope of work it provides to Walmart with a US$130 million contract to deliver exterior facilities maintenance services to more than 4,000 of its stores across North America.
In Canada, Transfield Services joint venture, FT Services, strengthened its position in the oil sands market, winning preferred tenderer status with new client Nexen Inc. Transfield Services subsidiary, Transfield Services North America - Transportation Infrastructure, also announced it had secured preferred contractor status for a new C$170 million contract with existing client, the Ontario Ministry of Transportation.
Transfield Services’ Managing Director and CEO, Peter Goode, said today: “This healthy flow of new and renewed business clearly demonstrates that we are progressing on our strategic objective to drive profitability by leveraging our existing client base and geographical footprint. The volume of work won with existing customers is also evidence of our ability to deliver efficiency and productivity to our clients’ assets.”
Over 85 percent of the Company’s services are delivered under long-term contracts and relationships with key clients.
Transfield Services has a robust pipeline of work developing in oil and gas, power, defence, transport and social infrastructure, providing continuing diversification for the business.
