Safety Management System
It is Transfield Services objective to achieve No Injury to Anyone, Anytime. To achieve this goal Transfield Services has developed a system that is underpinned by a rigorous Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment Process.
The individual elements of the HSE Management System revolve around the four steps of Planning, Implementation, Review and Improvement.
Transfield Services HSE Management System Overview

Planning
The HSE Management System is driven by development of a Hazard Register at the planning stage, which breaks the scope of work at the contract into core activities and then identifies the hazards associated with each activity.
This process forces the correct application of the hierarchy of controls and defines the site requirements for procedures, training, work instructions and importantly defines which task related risk assessment tool, such as Job Start or Job Analysis, is appropriate.
Implementation
Communication and Consultation is a critical process for the success of our safety systems. Training is one of the primary methods for communicating the requirements of the HSE management system to the workforce.
Communication methods such as toolbox talks, team meetings, committee meetings, management meetings help us to maintain awareness of HSE procedures and issues. The communication process is also used to obtain feedback and suggestions from the workforce.
Review
We have well-developed systems, processes and metrics for reporting personal and process safety performance that support internal performance management, promote learning and enable public reporting.
We use have a range of tools and measures to do this, including workplace HSE Inspections, Audits, Job Observations, Integrity Investigations and other monitoring processes such as the Leadership Commitment Program (LCP).
We also track and trend a range of both lead and lag performance indicators to provide a quantitative measure of progress.
Improvement
Learning from our activities is seen as critical in shaping the organisational culture and supporting continuous improvement.
Our safety management system is designed to identify and continually feedback opportunities for improvement into the systems.
