Safety Highlights

We have achieved significant safety successes across the business and reached a number of recordable-free milestones recently. These outstanding achievements reflect the team’s continued focus on safety, and commitment to watching out for each other.

Our recent safety milestones include:

  • TIMEC’s sixth recordable-free year at the Chevron Salt Lake City, Utah refinery in September 2009 demonstrated the company’s continuous focus, innovation and commitment to delivering safe, reliable services to its clients.

  • In Australia in July 2009, our Shell Clyde and Gore Bay Alliance in New South Wales reached 1 million work hours without a Lost Time Injury. And our Carlton United Breweries contract in Queensland has recently reached more than 10 years LTI free.

  • Our oil sands business in Canada, FT Services, has worked more than 12.5 million hours without a Lost Time Injury since start of operation in 2007.

  • Our Abu Dhabi subsidiary, Transfield Emdad Services LLC and Intergulf General Contracting LLC, completed 12 years without a Lost Time Injury in August. More than 14 million hours were worked to achieve this target.

  • Transfield Services has been recognised for its outstanding continuous safety performance and leadership during the 2008 FCC Turnaround at Mobil Altona Refinery in Victoria. The Turnaround involved more than 114,000 work hours, had a peak workforce of 521 and achieved zero Lost Time Injuries and Medically Treated Injuries.

Safety Overview

Transfield Services’ constant objective is to ensure no injuries to anyone, anytime.

We work hard to improve our best practice global safety systems and processes and to strengthen the knowledge and skills of our people. These efforts are reflected by a consistent improvement in our safety performance statistics.

In the past 12 months, we have reduced our Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate by 16.44 per cent to 1.88 per million hours worked and our Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate by 17.95 per cent to 7.3 per million hours worked.
